What does channeling spirit have to do with painting?

Updated: Sep 7, 2025

Original paintings are portals for energy, so it is exceedingly important you are careful what kind of art you allow into your home as it contains the energy of the painter and what they've channeled while creating it.

When I began painting, whether I knew it or not I was acting as a conduit to Spirit. When an idea for a painting entered my mind it was usually acompanied by a feeling or an energy that wanted to come through and be expressed into the physical. What I love about painting is that I get to make a visual representation of a spiritual place or messsage. And I do believe that some of my paintings are places I have been in other lives that I am trying to remember. The best way I can descibe it is when you wake from a dream and you are trying to remember details and events from the dream, it feels like a distant memory even immediately upon waking, but you are left with a 'feeling' or certain emotions that stick with you longer than the images from said dream.

Why do I do so much abstract?

I love painting in abstract or a style adjacent to abstract, it feels so free from rules. And I always feel less pressure to make it 'perfect'. It's almost as though by the nature of declaring something an abstract, it frees the painting to manifest in a way outside of expectation. I want the art to be able to flow and breathe into it's best possible expression, I just do my best to get out of the way and let it become what it is meant to become.

The Cultural Significance of Art

Many cultures use art as a form of expression and connection to the divine. In some traditions, art is used in rituals and ceremonies. For example, indigenous cultures often create art as part of their spiritual practices. This can include painting, carving, or weaving. But for me, it just feels like something that needs to be turned from the non-physical, to the physical. And I am grateful for every painting I make, because it always feels like a gift from the Divine.

Thank you for taking the time to read some some of my thoughts behind my art, have a beautiful day.
